Today's
entree is iridori, which
is a stew with chicken and potatoes and vegetables and
konnyaku. Konnyaku are the spirally things, and the
best way I can describe the substance is Jell-o that
decided to be noodle. It doesn't have a lot of flavor
of its own, but that's okay; it's content to absorb
the flavor of its environment and instead contribute
its unique texture. With it are steamed
broccoli stem stars, and melon pan
in a separate container to keep it from getting soggy.
