Doujinshi commentary: Milky Pink

Circle:    Shikisaikogaku    Milky Pink: Front Cover
Type:   Normal, gags & serious story. 26 pages.
Date:   2002/3/17

This is the second doujinshi by Shikisaikogaku that I've gotten out of at least thirteen they have listed. Small print runs? Or doujinshi by this circle don't tend to get re-sold to used book stores and other DJ dealers?

This comic focuses mostly on Zidane and Garnet, but Eiko and the rest of the gang do figure in. In the serious story Eiko and Dagger are in Eiko's kitchen, and when Zidane walks in that mixture, already volatile, destabilizes completely. In another, Eiko nervously gives Vivi a package of handmade chocolates. Since that could be taken as a statement of affection, and Eiko gets rather tempery when she's nervous, Vivi gets some mixed signals. But chocolate can heal many wounds if applied internally.

The artwork is not slick and professional, but it's often pleasant in its roughness. Sometimes the characters' heads look balloony, at least in part because of the roundness of the hairstyles. A side note - this is the valentiniest doujinshi I've reviewed, and I reviewed it right after Valentine's Day. Coincidence, or did I pick up the pastel, candy-and-hearts issue due to some subconscious urge? Nah. Even if I did, I wouldn't admit to it.
