Number One: This was originally meant to be just a short, side or backstory for the larger story arc that will be written at some point in the future. It's meant to introduce a new character and provide a convincing argument as to why she's with Gaav when you see them together later.
Number Two: This story is set about 80 years after the end of TRY. Gaav was reborn soon after the end of that, and he's no longer Mazoku. But he's not just a human, either. He's more than that. Exactly what is he? To borrow a phrase, sore wa himitsu desu. ;)
Number Three... This is the hardest to explain... Gaav still looks the same he did in both NEXT and TRY. I'm using Terry Pratchett's ideas about morphogenic fields to explain that one. However, Gaav appears as a mature human male (and has for quite some time now), but Val appears to be a child of around 10 or 11. I haven't yet figured this out yet.
Number Four... I was sure there was a four, but I can't remember it. Oh, yes. This story starts out dark and addresses some very mature subject matter. There is also some "bad language," too. There's also some lemony parts. Please be aware of this if you decide to read it.
Remember, this is still in progress, and I'm just trying to get the first draft done. Feedback is welcome, but please don't write and tell me I need to edit it. Yes, I know that.
